Helping speech beat her machines
Lone enjoys chatting with clients while treating their feet - but conversing has been challenging at times.
“When my dust-collecting appliance was running, I couldn’t hear what people were saying, so I would have to turn it off,” Lone says.
“But with my new Ponto Pro, the noise stays in the background and speech comes through more clearly, so I can talk and clean up at the same time.”
This very tangible benefit is due to a unique sound processing feature known as Speech Guard. This is designed to preserve the subtle details that make voices easier to distinguish and speech easier to understand, and to prevent distortion or discomfort caused by rapid noise-related changes.
Less fatigue at trade shows
Working in a clinic isn’t the only thing Lone does; she also attends trade shows. “I used to spend so much energy on finding the right place to stand in order to follow what was going on that I’d be worn out by the end of the day. With Ponto Pro, catching speech isn’t difficult at all – even when there’s a lot of background noise.”
Multi-talented Lone is also a skilled Therapist. “At trade shows I didn’t dare offer sample treatments because when people are sharing confidentialities they speak more softly. And I didn’t want to have to ask them to repeat themselves.
But now that I can hear the finer details, I don’t feel nervous and sample treatments are no longer difficult for me to give.”
Feeling good on the highway – and on the phone
With Ponto Pro, Lone is also experiencing the benefits of a device designed to capture more of the essential details in speech and music. “When I’m out driving and listening to the radio I can hear what the newsreaders are saying, and catch the lyrics in songs.
Previously a song might be half over before I recognised it – but not anymore
. And that’s a brand new, really good feeling.”
One of the most significant changes Lone has experienced is in using her mobile phone. “Being able to actually answer calls rather than using just my phone for texting is something I have to get used to. It’s a whole new world,” Lone says.
The reason why talking on the phone can be challenging is that holding a phone close to a hearing device can cause whistling sounds. Ponto Pro is designed to keep feedback at bay – also when you are adjusting the volume.
